Your recipes, with clear boundaries.

Saved on your device. Optional iCloud sync. Built around Apple Intelligence. Here is what that means for your kitchen.

Updated October 15, 2026

On your device

Your everyday kitchen stays close.

Your saved recipes, plans, and groceries are stored locally. Your name, device preferences, unfinished imports, cooking sessions, timers, and learned shopping order stay on that device.

  • Read saved recipes, plan meals, shop, and cook offline.
  • Meaning search and text recognition use local frameworks.
  • Initial model or search assets may need a download.

Optional iCloud sync

A collection across your own devices.

Choose iCloud sync for eligible recipes, photos, favorites, metadata, plans, groceries, and product-category corrections on devices using the same Apple Account. It is off by default; changes take effect after a complete app restart.

Transfers need a connection. Local data remains usable when cloud setup or transfer fails. Turning sync off does not disable Apple cloud intelligence.

Cloud and device have different jobs.

Recipe reading, meal ideas, variations, step help, and dish-photo descriptions prefer Apple’s Private Cloud Compute when available, with device fallback. Relevant recipe text, supplied photos, ingredients, or questions can be included in these requests.

  • Imported-recipe timing, search, and text recognition use local frameworks or models.
  • Cloud inference needs connectivity and available system allowance.
  • Ideas and help need an available device model when cloud is unavailable.

Optional dish-image generation uses Apple Intelligence and Image Playground. Availability depends on your device and system support.

Imports, sharing, and backups

Know where you are sending a recipe.

A link import requests the selected website and available images. Safari can share a page you have loaded without passing your login credentials to Flavor Folio. Recipe text and backups go to the file or sharing destination you choose, which may itself be a cloud service.

Recipe backups include recipes and their photos and source details. They exclude plans, groceries, active sessions, timers, learned order, and device preferences.
